We are seeking an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to play a key role in driving client relationships, achieving business growth, and ensuring successful project execution. In this salaried role with paid commission, you will estimate and manage your own projects, as well as assignments delegated by upper management, with an annual sales volume not exceeding $8 million. This position requires expertise in construction processes, estimating, and interpreting plans, alongside strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Client and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for bidding, contracts, scope execution, billing, and collections.
- Uphold and represent Meyer's ethical standards in all professional interactions.
Project Management:
- Estimate, plan, and oversee multiple projects to ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality completion.
- Collaborate with Superintendents, Project Engineers, and upper management across all project phases.
- Proactively resolve issues while fostering a team-focused culture.
Sales and Profitability:
- Meet or exceed sales goals and ensure project profitability through effective cost tracking, budget updates, and budgetary enforcement.
- Oversee contracts, negotiate pricing, and manage financial aspects such as billings, payments, and change orders.
Communication and Leadership:
- Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, team members, and upper management to ensure smooth operations.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills and escalate issues appropriately when needed.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with Meyer's values.
Systems and Processes:
- Develop and refine bidding, sales, and project management systems to improve efficiency.
- Ensure project quality meets Meyer's standards, coordinate punch lists, and oversee efficient closeouts.
Subcontractor and Vendor Oversight:
- Build and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships, ensuring alignment with company ethics.
- Negotiate terms, issue contracts, and oversee payments.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction.
- Proven ability to grow client relationships, manage projects effectively, and meet profitability goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred).
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Technical Proficiency:
- Skilled in reading and interpreting construction plans, layouts, and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management tools.
